  • Bachelors degree in technology related fields
  • Credentials: CTS or equivalent
  • Candidate should have a minimum of 5 years experience in designing, budgeting, programming and engineering audiovisual systems, including display, switching, processing, control systems, equipment racks, sound systems, audio and videoconferencing for control rooms, boardrooms, classrooms, and training rooms
  • Candidate will have excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Must have the ability to create and modify technical drawings and schematics using AutoCAD
  • Must have a customer service perspective with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and customers.  Shows initiative in contacting customers, updating project team members and actively managing schedules and expectations.
  • The successful candidate must be self-sufficient, have strong computer skills, and be very detailed oriented
  • Factory and field training on major brands of audiovisual systems and components, including Sony, BSS, Crown, Extron, AMX, Crestron, Tandberg, Polycom, and others is expected
  • Must be proficient in MS Office products including Word, Excel, Outlook and competent typist

 

Position Summary:      

Audio visual systems designers are to act as project managers for the audio visual portion of projects.  Responsibilities include meeting with clients to develop requirements based on customer input and needs.  Designers will then research equipment, create estimates, create schedules, and provide milestones and status reports.  Designers will then design, specify, plan and integrate audio visual systems based on those clients needs. 

Major Responsibilities:

 

  • Design, specify, plan and perform construction administration services related to A/V systems for our corporate and educational clients
  • Define and develop requirements based on customer input and need, research equipment, create estimates and schedule, provide milestones and status reports and develop project basis of design documents working from company standards
  • Act as project manager, coordinate with architect and/or construction staff to lead A/V portion of construction planning
  • Assess requirements for audio visual and teleconference systems
  • Design and layout systems, create drawings and wiring plans for installation
  • Validate designs and prepare customer presentation materials
  • Specify equipment and propose project budgets
  • Use the companies’ internal database to plan personnel and scheduling needs
  • Manage project schedules
  • Develop project basis of designs
  • Work with customers to review and refine project designs and documents
  • Prepare project related paperwork including: Responses to RFIs, meeting minutes, punch lists, submittals, test results, etc.
  • Oversee the final system testing and turnover and insure the proper system and operations documentation is furnished to the client
  • Investigate present technology and anticipate future technology trends, recommend technology changes and process to implement them
  • Prepare project specifications for review by project manager
  • Demonstrate required attendance and punctuality
