Vanderweil Engineering, LLP, a National Engineering Firm has an immediate opening for a Mechanical Engineer to work as part of a Regional Healthcare Focus Team in its New York City Office.  The candidate must possess between 10 to 15 years of experience in the Healthcare Market Sector (i.e. working on all types of mechanical systems including but not limited to air handling systems, chilled water generation and distribution systems, boiler systems and distribution systems (steam and hot water), ductwork distribution systems, controls, etc., must have at minimum a Bachelor’s Degree in Architectural or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited school and possess a Professional Engineer license in at least one of the states for which we have an office. The candidate will be responsible for leading the efforts of the supporting mechanical engineering team (including senior designers, junior engineers, CAD/REVIT designers, administrative support, etc.) for projects including but not limited to; the completion of HVAC load calculations, the completion of detailed code analyses, the development of mechanical systems and system/equipment selections, the development of system diagrams, the development of ductwork, piping and equipment plans and the development of project related specifications at each phase (i.e. Schematic Design, Design Development and Construction Documentation phases) for the project.  The candidate should, possess excellent prioritization and project development skills, possess experience leading an engineering team, possess strong written and verbal communication skills, possess experience using electronic word processing and spreadsheet documents (including word, power point, excel, etc.), possess experience with HVAC system load calculation software (i.e. Trane Trace, Carrier HAP, etc.), possess experience with electronic drawing and documentation software (i.e. AutoCAD, REVIT (desirable), etc.), possess experience with both renovation and new construction projects in the Healthcare Sector and be a team player.  The candidate will formally report to the Engineering Discipline lead for the Regional Healthcare Team at the assigned office as well as informally to the Project Manager and/or Principal-in-Charge for the specific project assignment(s).
