Dynamic Glazing incorporated into exterior Facades are able to change glass tint between clear and dark on demand providing control over the amount of light and heat that enter a building.  This dynamic control reduced building energy consumption, reduced peak energy load and occupant comfort.  With the elimination of blinds and shades for the building glazing systems, the building can feature unobstructed views, an increase in natural daylight, as well as increased productivity.

  • This presentation will begin by covering common misconceptions with Dynamic Glazing such as limitations due to project type, scale, and cost.
  • We will discuss the different dynamic glazing technologies. From there we will evaluate different dynamic glazing integrations.
  • Then the course will examine the cost benefits of using dynamic glazing option in more detail by looking at 3 Case Studies.
  • At the completion of this course, participants will  have been presented with the impact of dynamic glazing on the design of facades, evaluate the benefits of dynamic glazing solutions, and understand best practices, including how dynamic glazing solutions can be implemented in new building construction and retrofit applications alike.

Additional Presenters: Pedro Fagundo (AECOM), Chris Muskopf (CambridgeSeven), Matt Edlen (Gerding Edlen), and Steven Watchorn (CBI Consulting)
