Emerson College, Piano Row Dining Hall
Engineering services for the creation of a 19,000 sf full service dining venue in the heart of Emerson’s downtown Boston campus. The project spans the basement and first floors of two separate buildings at 122-124 Boylston Street and 19 Boylston Place. New program includes a two-story, 250-seat dining venue with multiple distributed cooking platforms, a café/private dining area and back of house functions including dish wash, food prep, office space, restrooms and circulation. Limited floor to floor heights and a fully occupied building surrounding the renovation area necessitated distributed and varied MEP systems. Three separate hood exhaust systems allow for variable air volume hood controls. Cooking areas are served by two separate makeup air handling units with fresh air from six stories above the kitchens. Fan coils and VRF systems are employed for supplemental cooling of high-heat spaces.
