Convexity Capital Management, located in the John Hancock Tower, expanded and renovated two floors of office space. Vanderweil provided MEP engineering services for this expansion and tenant fit-out totaling 34,000 sf including a new communicating stair. Program elements included additions to the full trading floor on floor 57 that remained in operation throughout the renovations, a new dedicated HVAC system providing 90 tons of supplemental cooling to the 57th and 58th floors, and new data center with central UPS system backup on the 58th floor. Two separate bus risers via a transfer switch provided power for the new data center. Programming included private offices and workstations, conference areas, boardroom, cocktail lounge with a wet bar, food service area (non-cooking) with a separate cooler area, cafe and lounge area, IT network room, yoga room with radiant floor heating and a fitness center with men’s and women’s locker rooms including shower areas. The core restrooms were fully renovated. Floor 58 contains the base building tuned mass damper rooms, which involved coordinating the MEP design around these rooms for the new programming.
