Vanderweil provided MEP engineering for this private R&D company’s corporate headquarters expansion that includes the design of two new buildings and an 800-vehicle parking structure at their campus for a total of 300,000 rsf. The two buildings at the Eastview campus include approximately 140,000 sf of office space (as well as conferencing and an auditorium), and 110,000 sf of laboratory space. Vanderweil designed an air-cooled chilled water plant, which serves as a back-up in case the campus plant goes offline. The campus plant provides 45°F chilled water to building. Occasionally, the plant can only produce 47°F chilled water. The back-up air-cooled chiller plant has the capability of trimming the 47°F campus chilled water serving the building to 45°F. Electrical tenant improvements were designed including the installation of an emergency distribution system providing back-up power to the entire facility and the back-up air-cooled chiller plant. The emergency distribution system includes two 2,000 kW 480/277 volt paralleled diesel generators, one 1,500kW 480/277 volt diesel generator, and multiple automatic transfer switches supplying life-safety and standby loads.
